Withdrawal period: The treated animals must not be sacrificed for human consumption before 5 days after the treatment has finished.

Actions: To carry out the inhibition of bacterial synthesis, orphenicol penetrates inside the bacterial cell, crossing the membrane of the bacterium by facilitated diffusion. Orphenicol act in the first instance, reversibly joining the 50S subunit of the bacterial ribosome (close to the site of interaction of macrolides and clindamycin, compounds with competitive inhibition occurs).

Indications: Broad spectrum bacterial antibiotic, belonging to the group of phenicols. Due to its broad spectrum; due to its excellent oral bioavailability and good tissue penetration, the antibiotic reaches high concentrations mainly in lung tissue. Swine diseases caused by bacteria sensitive to Florfenicol: Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, Pasteurella multocida, Haemophilus parasuis, Streptococos sp, Staphilococos, E.coli sp, Salmonella sp, in addition to the treatment of Swine Ileitis, urinary infections in sows and other diseases caused by Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria sensitive to the action of Florfenicol.
